Not sure what to bring to your first Carolina Radlands event? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered.
Our big events are hosted at EastWind Castle, a mini medieval-style village settled in the woods of Trenton, SC (close to Augusta). Much like a state park, this site has everything you would need for a three-day event: electricity, bathrooms, showers, water fountains, fire pits and more. Players are free to camp anywhere on the property, and occasionally buildings can be rented out for lodging.
Whether this is your first LARP or your 100th, not knowing what to bring can be a little overwhelming. While our game crew will provide all of the in-game essentials that you’ll need (chem props, caps, character sheet, loaner weapons, first aid, Nerf gun ammo, etc), we recommend bringing some of the following:
CLOTHING & PROPS
- Underwear & socks (Pack extra! Even in cold weather, you’re gonna get sweaty!)
- Pajamas/sleepwear
- Character garb (pieces your character wears during the event)
- Character props (Dagorhir-style foam weapons, Nerf guns, accessories, etc – note that if you don’t have a weapon, we have some loaners you can borrow at your first event)
- COMFORTABLE SHOES!!
- A change of regular clothes (for leaving the event)
- A jacket, for colder weather
TOILETRIES
- Makeup
- Baby wipes and/or face cleaning solution, like astringent
- Cotton balls, cotton pads and/or q-tips
- Hairbrush/comb + products (hairspray, hairgel, hair bands, etc.)
- Shampoo & soap
- Washcloth & towel
- Pads/tampons, if applicable
- Shaving razor
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Deodorant (please!!)
- Toilet paper
- Medicine (prescriptions, pain killers, allergy meds, sleeping meds, antacids, etc.)
OTHER NECESSITIES
- Tent (if camping outside)
- Bedding (blankets/sheets, pillows, camping cot, blow-up mattress, hammock, etc.)
- Power strip and/or extension cord
- Phone charger
- Trash bags (help us keep the site clean!)
- Bug repellent spray
- Flashlight
- FM Radio (for tuning into our site-wide radio station)
FOOD & DRINK
- Water bottle
- Drinks & snacks
- Set of utensils + bowl/plate + drinking cup
- Cooking equipment, if desired**
- Canned foods, if desired**
- Campfire foods, if desired**
** We usually only provide food to players once during feast, but there are often vendors and other players willing to sell food for either real-world money or in-game currency (caps). However, we recommend bringing some of your own food, just in case. There are plenty of fire pits across EastWind for cooking, as well as a few outdoor stove setups for grilling. The clinic also usually provides free coffee all weekend.
